Apple MacBook Pro With Intel Core Spotted
Apple has yet to officially announce its move from Intel Core 2 Duo chips to the new Intel Core platform. However, interesting benchmarks running Intel Core i7 have appeared online, which has the rumour mill rumbling. Read on to find out about the Apple MacBook Pro with Intel Core processor.
It was only a matter of time before Apple was to move its laptop range over to the new Intel Core platform. After all, the chips offer better performance and improved battery life, as well as packing in new technologies Hyperthreading and Intel’s TurboBoost, making them perfect for high-end machines like the Apple MacBook Pro.
Benchmarking results have appeared on line, reportedly claiming to come from an Apple MacBook Pro running the Intel Core i7 processor. The benchmarks recorded by Geekbench were, it’s claimed, caught on the 4th February 2010 and show the MacBook Pro running the 2.66GHz Core i7-620M processor backed with 4GB of DDR3 memory.
The results are interesting because they show the Apple MacBook to out perform an Intel Core 2 Duo system by two-thirds, which is an impressive performance boost from the new chip.
Apple has yet to make a statement as to whether we can expect the MacBook Pro to move to Intel Core i7 processors in the short term. However, it does make us wonder if that means we’ll be seeing the Intel Core i5 series in more mainstream and affordable MacBooks soon too?
